Keir Starmer's First Press Conference

Sir Keir Starmer has vowed that the Rwanda scheme is "dead and buried" in his first press conference as snaps of his new Cabinet have emerged. The new Prime Minister was quizzed by reporters just hours after new and returning MPs gathered at No 10.

New Labour Cabinet Meeting

The new Labour cabinet met for the first time today with Sir Keir Starmer opening the meeting by telling ministers: 'We have a huge amount of work to do'. This comes after yesterday's landslide victory against the Tories.

Confirmation of the Rwanda Scheme

During the press conference, Keir Starmer confirmed that the Rwanda scheme was "dead and buried" under Labour. When questioned, he mentioned that the scheme never acted as a deterrent and had the opposite effect, leading to record numbers coming in the first six months of the year.

Plans and Vision

Sir Keir Starmer outlined his vision of tearing up planning regulations and rebuilding Britain as he entered No 10 with his wife Victoria. The couple's focus on getting Brits on the housing ladder and kick-starting growth through various policies was highlighted.
