The Pokémon Worlds 2024 event in Honolulu, Hawaii, just concluded, with players raking in millions in prize money across all four games. Fernando Cifuentes from Chile secured the TCG grand prize of $50k (£40k), while Luca Ceribelli emerged victorious in VGC and took home $30k (£25k). Yip Kai "Yekai0904" Cheng from Hong Kong won $20k (£15k) in Pokémon Go, and Japan’s Fennel claimed $100k (£80k) split among its five players for winning Gold in Pokémon Unite.

Exciting Updates for Pokémon Players

Aside from the thrilling victories, players worldwide received exciting updates for the four games. Pokémon Scarlet and Violet players can now obtain the 2023 World Championship-winning Sylveon by using the code SLEEPTALKW0RLDS in Mystery Gift until Monday, August 19, 2024. In Pokémon Unite, three new characters are set to be introduced in 2024: Armarouge in September, Darkrai in October, and Psyduck in November, with Psyduck uniquely staying unevolved throughout battles.

Furthermore, the upcoming mobile game TCG Pocket, allowing players to enjoy casual TCG games on the go, will launch on October 30 for iOS and Android. The game trailer also teased a new Mewtwo card. In the trading card game realm, the return of Trainer cards was announced, including popular cards like Lille’s Clefairy Ex, Marnie’s Grimmsnarl Ex, N’s Zoroark Ex, and N’s Reshiram. A new set featuring Team Rocket was hinted at, possibly involving Giovanni’s or Team Rocket’s Mewtwo.

Pokémon World Championship Updates

The Pokémon World Championship locations for 2025 and 2026 were also revealed, with both tournaments set to take place in California. Anaheim will host the event in 2025, followed by San Francisco in 2026.
