SEVENTY former staff of a collapsed restaurant founded by Jamie Oliver have won a legal claim for more than £200,000.
They will receive the equivalent of eight weeks’ pay following a failure in the redundancy process.
All worked at Fifteen Cornwall — which TV celebrity chef Jamie, 45, launched in 2006.
He was not involved with the eaterie in Watergate Bay near Newquay, when it closed without warning last December.
Staff claimed compensation — to be paid from a Government scheme — because the law states they should have been consulted in advance about the redundancies.
Citizens Advice expert Martin Jackson said: “This is a great result for the former employees.
“The extra money will help tide them over Christmas.
“Many have suffered a double whammy from being made redundant with no notice last winter and since then have been unable to find stable jobs in hospitality and catering due to lockdown.”
