Missed diagnosis
Louise Ingham, a 37-year-old mother from Droylsden, Greater Manchester, can no longer have children after cervical cancer was missed in her test results. In 2016, her smear test was reported as normal, but four years later, she was diagnosed with stage 2 cervical cancer.
Devastating impact
Due to complications from chemotherapy, Louise went into early menopause and lost the ability to have more children. She expressed her sadness at not being able to fulfill her dream of having a big family.
Positive outlook
Despite the challenges she has faced, Louise remains determined to stay positive. She opened a shop, House of Grace, to find a new path for her family and raise awareness for Cervical Cancer Prevention Week.
Legal action and apology
Louise has instructed medical negligence lawyers to investigate her case, with the hospital trust admitting fault for misreporting her test results in 2016. They have apologized and are working to secure compensation for Louise's ongoing care.
