46-year-old Gavin was born in Scarborough, North Yorkshire, in 1976.

He has been the MP for South Staffordshire since 2010, when he was elected with a majority of 16,590 votes.

Williamson also served in Theresa May‘s Cabinet as Secretary of State for Defence between 2017 and 2019.

He was also May’s Chief Whip between 2016 and 2017.

The new Minister Without Portfolio also held the position of Secretary of State for Education under Boris Johnson from 2019 to 2021.
