UK Government Minister Slams Scottish National Party for Failing Education System and Safe Spaces for Drug Use

Attainment Gap Widens

Penny Mordaunt, the UK Government's Commons leader, launched a scathing attack on the Scottish National Party (SNP) yesterday, accusing them of failing on education and overseeing a "wrecked education system". Mordaunt claimed that the SNP government has widened the attainment gap for youngsters, leaving many behind.

A Shocking Claim

In a particularly sharp remark, Mordaunt added, "But they will have, of course, somewhere safe and warm to take heroin." This statement refers to the UK's first official consumption room for illegal drugs, which was approved by Glasgow in September. The SNP supports the room, arguing that it will help prevent overdoses and address the ongoing drugs crisis.

A Response to Mockery

Mordaunt's criticism of the SNP came after SNP MP Deidre Brock mocked her speech at the Tory conference, where Mordaunt repeatedly encouraged the British public to "stand up and fight". Brock accused Tory ministers, including Chancellor Jeremy Hunt, of wanting a fight with the unemployed in their Autumn Statement.

Standing Up and Fighting Back

Mordaunt fired back at Brock, asserting that the SNP is on her list of those she is "standing up and fighting against". She also called on Brock to be more self-reflective, questioning which party's leader smirked during the national anthem and whose activists labeled BBC reporters as "traitors".
