Trump Declassifies Remaining JFK Assassination Records

Unveiling History

Donald Trump has officially declassified and released all remaining JFK assassination records, fulfilling a long-standing promise to shed light on one of history's greatest mysteries. The US president said nothing will be redacted from the documents about the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.

Accessing the Records

Pages of previously classified documents are now accessible online via the National Archives website or in person at the National Archives at College Park, Maryland. The vast majority of the National Archives' collection of over 6 million pages of records, photographs, motion pictures, sound recordings, and artifacts related to the assassination have previously been released.

What to Expect

Trump revealed that his administration will be releasing 80,000 files, though the exact number of new records remains unclear. Researchers have estimated that around 3,000 records were still unreleased in whole or in part, with the FBI recently discovering about 2,400 new records related to the assassination.

Review Process

Christopher Robinson, an official in the National Security Division, instructed staff to review hundreds of documents each related to the assassinations of John F. Kennedy, Robert F. Kennedy, Martin Luther King Jr., and potentially others. The review deadline was set for Tuesday noon.
