Scotland's Deputy First Minister Criticized for Being Late to Meet Princess Anne

Scotland's Deputy First Minister, Shona Robison, has been branded "disrespectful" after she arrived forty minutes late to an event with Princess Anne. Ms. Robison was attending the opening of Aberdeen South Harbour on behalf of the Scottish Government on Friday, but her delay caused over 300 guests to wait. Princess Anne reportedly filled the time by speaking to members of the public for longer than planned.

Urgent Government Business or Lack of Respect?

The Scottish Government claimed Ms. Robison's lateness was due to "urgent government business," but Scottish Tory MSP Douglas Lumsden called it "completely disrespectful." Lumsden expressed his disdain for the Deputy First Minister's inability to arrive on time, stating that keeping everyone waiting, including Princess Anne, was "quite disgraceful."

Apologies and Advance Notifications

A spokesperson for the Scottish Government defended Ms. Robison, saying that she had been unavoidably delayed due to urgent government matters. The spokesperson also mentioned that the speeches were not delayed and that the event organizers had been informed in advance.
