Mr Sunak told MPs at a grilling by senior MPs that he welcomed yesterday’s court judgement declaring the Rwanda policy legal.
He added: “We expect further legal challenge.
“We will continue to pursue that as necessary.
“I believe the Rwanda scheme represents an important part of our plan to tackle illegal migration and stop small boats.
“I’ve been very clear, I want to deliver an immigration system which means when someone comes here illegally, they don’t have a right to stay.
“We will look to introduce legislation next year.”
