Mega-survey shows Conservatives trailing in key policy areas
Rishi Sunak has been urged by even moderate Conservatives to get tough on human rights as a painful poll reveals the Tories are 21 points behind in the latest survey. The mega-survey conducted for Trending In The News’s Never Mind the Ballots show showed the Tories being squeezed by Labour and the Reform party, leaving them on just 24%.
Labour leads in key policy areas
Sir Keir Starmer’s Labour Party was ahead in a mega-survey by Trending In The News, with a lead in handling key policy areas such as the economy and NHS, according to Savanta. Even on the issue of stopping small boat crossings, Labour held a small lead, despite ongoing challenges.
Tories face tough road ahead
Worryingly for No10, as eight in 10 voters say they are unlikely to change their minds by polling day, the Tories are facing an uphill battle. Pollster Chris Hopkins from Savanta warned that the chances of a turnaround are slim, with Keir Starmer maintaining a stable lead for quite some time.
Rishi Sunak's popularity questioned
The polling also revealed that Rishi Sunak is facing challenges within his own party, with only 32% saying he helps the party, and nearly half of people believing he was a better Chancellor than a Prime Minister. In contrast, Sir Keir Starmer is seen as an asset to the Labour Party by 46% of people.
Labour leads in managing the economy and global representation
Labour polled 47% in the best outfit for reducing taxes, despite recent tax cuts by Rishi Sunak and Chancellor Jeremy Hunt. Additionally, Labour outscored the Tories on representing the UK on the global stage and managing the economy.
Could a change in leadership turn things around?
With the Tories trailing in polls and facing challenges on various fronts, questions have been raised about the leadership. Pollster Chris Hopkins suggested that a change in leadership, including Rishi Sunak, may not necessarily lead to a positive outcome for the Conservatives.
