RISHI Sunak today slammed “Sir Softie Keir Starmer” as “flakey” too, after the Labour leader kept flip flopping on pledges to the public.
At a feisty PMQs, Mr Sunak hit out at his opposite number for constantly u-turning on promises, such as abolishing tuition fees and backing a second Brexit referendum.
Rishi Sunak today slammed Sir Keir Starmer as Sir Flakey, after the Labour leader kept u-turning on his promises to the public
And he pointed out that Sir Keir has even flip-flopped on a previously stated desire to get rid of the monarchy.
Mr Sunak said: “It’s a bit rich to hear about mandates from the person who has broken every single promise he was elected on.
“I can go through the list: nationalisations, NHS outsourcing, universal credit, and now tuition fees.
“He was for them before he was against them. He’s not just Sir Softie, he’s Sir Flakey too.”
Hitting back, a fiery Sir Keir pointed out the Tories lost a dismal 1,000 seats at last week’s local elections.
And the opposition chief highlighted Mr Sunak couldn’t even win a Tory leadership showdown against Liz Truss – someone who’s time chaotic tenure in No10 was outlasted by a singular lettuce.
“The Prime Minister said he was going to lose a thousand seats and then he managed it,” Sir Keir said.
“Last year he lost a Tory beauty contest to (Liz Truss) who then lost to a lettuce. Last week, when he finally came into contact with voters, he lost everywhere.
“No matter who the electorate is, the Prime Minister keeps entering a two-horse race and somehow finishing third.”
At PMQs Sir Keir made a point of thanking the thousands of police, staff and volunteers involved in King Charles’ magnificent coronation weekend.
But when the Labour leader was in his early 40s he was caught on video smirking as he said: “I often used to propose the abolition of the monarchy.”
Sir Keir Starmer has been slammed by ministers and Tory MPs for often backtracking on promises.
In February the Labour leader said he agreed with the High Court’s decision to ban terrorist sympathiser and ISIS bride Shamima Begum from re-entering the UK.
But in 2019 he advocated for her return.
Sir Keir previously described his disgraced predecessor Jeremy Corbyn as a “friend”.
But this year he banned the far-left politician from standing as a Labour MP at the next election.
And In 2018 Sir Keir passionately advocated for a second Brexit referendum.
But he’s now u-turned on overturning the democratic mandate and conceded he’ll make Brexit work.
