RISHI Sunak was mercilessly mocked today after bizarrely confusing Burnley FC with Birmingham City.
The self-proclaimed major footie fan said he was gutted to watch his team Southampton get relegated last week.

But the PM then added: “Hopefully, we can bounce straight back up as Birmingham and Sheffield United have in reasonably short order.”
The Blues have been stuck in the Championship for 12 seasons since being relegated from the Premier League.
But Burnley – who the PM meant to refer to – have been promoted alongside Sheffield United after just one season in the second tier.
The embarrassing mix up was made during an interview in Japan, where the PM is attending the G7 summit.
It’s not the first time Mr Sunak has mistaken Burnley for a different location in Britain.
As Chancellor in 2021, speaking from Bury market, Mr Sunak described enjoying standing in “the world famous Burnley market” as he announced: ‘We’re here in Burnley”.
A Labour source said: “Having made this bizarre mistake twice, it seems that Rishi Sunak finds it difficult to distinguish between different parts of the country.
“Perhaps the PM should spend a bit less time gazing out the window of his helicopter on domestic flights and a bit more time getting to know the country?”
After circling the drain for months, Southampton were finally dropped last week.
In front of Mr Sunak, Saints became the first club to hit the deck in one of the tightest relegation scraps for years – defeat to Fulham sealing their fate after 11 years in the top flight.
