Nigel Farage’s Reform UK lodges complaint against Channel 4 for ‘electoral interference’

Allegations of 'racist slur' and 'set up'

Nigel Farage's Reform UK has officially filed a complaint against Channel 4, accusing the broadcaster of "electoral interference." This comes after footage aired showing a party volunteer making derogatory remarks about Rishi Sunak and migrants.

Response and accusations

Farage denounced the incident, labeling it a 'set up' during a BBC Question Time appearance. The volunteer, Andrew Parker, was recorded in Clacton by an undercover reporter and claimed to know Farage. Farage later claimed Parker was an "actor" and accused him of pretending to be someone else.

Formal complaint and denial

Adam Richardson, the Reform secretary and a barrister, lodged a formal complaint to Essex Police on behalf of Farage, alleging that Parker was planted by Channel 4 for their report. Channel 4 denies paying Parker and stands by their impartial journalism, stating that they filmed him covertly during their undercover operation.
