BORIS Johnson ally Nadine Dorries said there could be a shock general election “before the end of the year” after she quit as an MP on Friday.

The former Culture Secretary, 66, told Vanessa Feltz on TalkTV: “I’m just going a bit earlier than I said I was going to go.

Nadine Dorries speculates a general election could take place before the end of 2023

She said: “Who knows when a general election is going to happen, it could happen before the end of the year.

“I’d already made the commitment that I was not going to stand again.”

Hours later Mr Johnson announced he was also leaving with a blistering attack on Rishi Sunak.

And yesterday they were joined by another close ally Nigel Adams.

The trio quit in fury in a row over Boris’s resignation honours list.

Mr Johnson met Mr Sunak on June 2 to discuss the list.

He left believing Nadine, Nigel and Tory MP Alok Sharma would be on it.

But No10 said it was always up to the vetting watchdog Holac which made the cuts.
