Labour supports Angela Rayner after being accused of tax evasion

Allegations and Denials

Labour has come out in support of Angela Rayner after she was accused of being a "f***ing liar" by a former neighbour regarding her tax affairs. Rayner is under pressure to explain why she allegedly owes the taxman up to £3,000 from the 2015 sale of her Right to Buy house in Stockport.

Support from Labour

Despite the allegations, Angela Rayner has denied any wrongdoing and maintains that she was not liable for capital gains tax on the property as it was her primary residence. Shadow Chancellor Rachel Reeves has expressed full confidence in Rayner, stating that she has assured the party that no misconduct occurred.

Neighbours' Claims

Neighbours of Rayner's ex-husband have claimed that she actually lived with him, a mile away from the council house in question. An 83-year-old neighbour, Sylvia Hampson, stated that Rayner resided there for "six or seven years" and vehemently refuted Rayner's denial of living at the property.
