SIR Keir Starmer was yesterday accused by a top Labour MP of sitting on the fence on trans issues.
Feminist campaigner Rosie Duffield said Sir Keir has a “confusing” position on the topic.
Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer was labelled ‘confusing’ over his stand on trans issues
It came as the party this week backed down on its long-held promise to introduce gender self-ID.
Under the policy anyone aged 18 and over could decide to be legally recognised as the opposite gender.
Feminists have slammed the idea as a huge threat to women’s safety.
Ms Duffield welcomed the fresh U-turn but called on Sir Keir to be clearer about trans issues.
Just this year he declared that thousands of women have a penis.
Ms Duffield told the BBC: “It looks as though (Labour) is going in the right direction, and basically have just sort of agreed with myself and other feminist activist groups with what we’ve been saying for the last few years.
“It’s good to get a bit of clarity but there’s still a bit of confusion and fence-sitting, so I think we need a bit more clarity before we go into the next election.”
