Senior Tory Robert Jenrick Calls for Stricter Action Against Extremists

A former Home Office Minister, Robert Jenrick, has criticized the police for treating football fans more harshly than extremists promoting terrorism and calling for jihad on our streets. Jenrick is demanding stricter action to tackle the "cancer of Islamist extremism" and end the two-tiered policing system that he believes has let extremists off the hook.

Increased Terror Threat Due to War in Gaza

Jenrick's call comes after MPs were warned about the increased threat of a terrorist incident in the UK following the war in Gaza. He spoke out after Prime Minister Rishi Sunak emphasized the need to face down those who aim to "tear us apart."

Creating a "Petri Dish" for Radicalisation

In a piece for the Mail on Sunday, Jenrick criticized the current policing approach for creating a "petri dish" for radicalization. He highlighted that the intelligence services are stretched and often apply a high threshold before engaging with individuals, leaving less dangerous but still hateful extremists unchecked.

Stricter Action Against Hate Preachers and Extremists Online

Jenrick, who resigned from the Government over concerns about weak Rwanda legislation, is calling for police to take stronger action against hate preachers and extremists operating online. He believes that appeasement has only emboldened extremists and that it is crucial to address this issue promptly.
