David Cameron Visits Ukraine as Foreign Secretary in First Overseas Trip

Former UK Prime Minister granted peerage and appointed as Foreign Secretary

David Cameron, the 57-year-old former UK Prime Minister, has embarked on his first official visit as Foreign Secretary to Ukraine. This comes after he was granted a peerage by King Charles, allowing him to accept the role. Cameron replaced James Cleverly as Foreign Secretary, who has taken over as Britain's new Home Secretary following Suella Braverman's removal by Rishi Sunak.

Talking Weapons and Support

During his visit, Cameron met with Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky to discuss important matters, including the supply of weapons for Ukrainian forces fighting against the Russian invasion. Zelensky expressed gratitude to the UK for its support and highlighted the focus on strengthening air defense and protecting people and critical infrastructure.

Reigniting Political Passion

Cameron, who retired as one of the youngest ex-PMs in history, revealed in 2018 that he felt "bored s***less" and had more to contribute. Allies had previously suggested that he could become Foreign Secretary, an opportunity that has now been seized by Rishi Sunak. With his wealth of experience, Cameron's role as Foreign Secretary allows him to draw on his legacy-defining Brexit gamble and make a significant impact on UK foreign policy.
