Alarming Increase in Youth Violence

The number of children under 15 prosecuted for violent attacks surged by 30% last year, according to official figures. This worrying trend has led former police officers to dub the situation a 'national emergency'.

Rocketing Numbers in Court for Violent Offenses

Last year, 438 kids between the ages of 10 and 14 were brought to court for crimes classified as 'violence against the person', including assault, GBH, and wounding. This marked a significant increase from 333 the previous year and the highest number since 2011.

Concerns Raised by Law Enforcement

Mick Neville, a former Detective Chief Inspector, expressed his concerns, stating that obeying the law has become optional and that the current situation poses a serious threat. He emphasized the need for immediate action to address the escalating levels of crime.

Political Response to the Crisis

A Labour source criticized the government, attributing the rise in child yobs to a lack of control under the current administration. The government, on the other hand, highlighted their efforts to combat youth crime by implementing initiatives that target at-risk individuals and provide support to prevent them from engaging in criminal activities.
