Three Cabinet ministers taken to court
Today, three Cabinet ministers are facing court action over accusations that British children are being subjected to indoctrination by woke activists in schools. Two parents and a maths teacher, Kevin Lister, are seeking a High Court ruling to address concerns that trans campaigners are promoting gender identity ideology in classrooms, allegedly violating the law.
Political indoctrination banned under Education Act
The Education Act explicitly prohibits political indoctrination in schools. The Bad Law Project, supporting the legal action, argues that gender ideology falls under political matters. Mr. Lister, who was dismissed for using incorrect pronouns for a student, is calling for a judicial review of the alleged failures to enforce the law by Education Secretary Gillian Keegan, Women and Equalities Secretary Kemi Badenoch, and Attorney General Victoria Prentis.
Challenging the status quo
Gordon Davies, the lead solicitor in the case, emphasized the importance of upholding the law, stating that political indoctrination in schools is illegal and should not be tolerated by government officials or educators. He highlighted concerns about trans activists influencing teenagers to consider gender changes, leading to potential impacts on their biological sex. Mr. Lister shared his experience of being dismissed for refusing to use the preferred pronouns of a student, criticizing the Education Department for allowing what he describes as unchecked influence from trans activists in schools.
