Boris Johnson to use final speech as PM to warn MPs to stop knifing their leaders and unite ‘100 per cent’ behind new PM

BORIS Johnson will use his final speech as PM to tell his warring party to stop knifing their leaders or face electoral oblivion.

Bojo — who was brutally toppled by his own MPs — will tell his mutinous backbenchers they must unite “100 per cent” behind the new PM.

If they fail to stop the bloodletting, they risk handing the keys of No 10 to Sir Keir Starmer, he will say.

He is expected to deliver the warning on the steps of No 10 early on Tuesday morning. Mr Johnson will then travel to Balmoral where he will meet with the Queen and hand over the reins to his successor — expected to be Liz Truss.

An ally of Boris told Trending In The News on Sunday: “He will say the next leader must get 100 per cent support from everyone — otherwise it won’t just be the next PM who is out — but all of us.

“We can’t have the infighting we have had over the past few months.”

Despite leading his party to a landslide election victory and still being popular with activists, Boris was brought down by his own Tory MPs.

They were fuming at him over partygate and the handling of the Chris Pincher groping allegations.

His fall from grace came almost exactly three years after Theresa May was forced to quit by the feuding Tory parliamentary party.

Miss Truss is expected to be announced Britain’s next PM tomorrow with some predicting she will be a massive 30 points ahead of rival Rishi Sunak.

But senior Tories have warned “she might not last until Christmas” if the party does not end its civil war.

Meanwhile, Boris could make an astonishing political comeback, his close friend Sir Eddie Lister said.

Sir Eddie, Bojo’s ex chief of staff, told Times Radio: “He is still very sad at what’s taken place, shocked at what’s taken place, and the speed of it.”

Asked if Mr Johnson could make a shock return, he added: “never say never”.
