BORIS Johnson received his booster jab today – as he urges others to get theirs to save Christmas.
The PM, 57, rolled up his left sleeve to get his injection from nurse Saffron at London’s St Thomas’ Hospital – where he was saved from the virus.
The PM, who said he almost died after being struck down with Covid last year, has previously begged eligible Brits to come forward.
Earlier this week he committed to offering all adults a third dose by January to fend off a fresh spike driven by Omicron.
Four hundred soldiers have been deployed to help with the rollout at vaccine centres that Mr Johnson said would be “popping up like Christmas trees”.
But the Government still hasn’t published its battle plan to expand the programme to the under-40s.
Business Minister George Freeman this morning claimed that people in their 20s and 30s can ring their GP for an appointment despite many despairing they can’t book slots.
Health Secretary Sajid Javid has suggested that a normal Christmas hinges on enough people getting their third doses.
He said on Tuesday: “If we want to give ourselves the best chance of a Christmas with our loved ones, the best thing we all do is step up, roll up our sleeves and get protected when the time comes.”
Today Mr Javid revealed contracts to buy 114million additional Pfizer/BioNTech and Moderna doses for 2022 and 2023.
He said: “This is a national mission and our best weapon to deal with this virus and its variants is to get jabs in arms – so when you are called forward, get the jab and get boosted.”
Mr Johnson rolled up his sleeves as he scrambled to contain a mixed messaging row over the Government’s Covid rules.
Cabinet Minister Therese Coffer last night said office romantics shouldn’t be “snogging under the mistletoe” at Christmas parties this year.
The Work and Pensions Secretary told ITV’s Peston: “I don’t think there should be much snogging under the mistletoe! Don’t need to do things like that.”
It has echoes of the notorious sex ban imposed on dallying Brits during the first lockdown.
A poll earlier this week found Omicron won’t deter two in three people from snogging at Christmas bashes.
The PM’s spokesman slapped down Ms Coffey and said there are “no restrictions” on snogging at parties.
