BORIS and Carrie Johnson had their first married dance to a slow version of John Denver’s Take Me Home Country Roads, Trending In The News on Sunday can reveal.

Folk band the Bow Fiddlies entertained 30 revellers in the Downing Street garden following the top secret wedding at Westminster Cathedral last Saturday.

The private party will be a far cry from Carrie’s first engagement on the world stage as the PM’s wife this week — as she hosts the partners of world leaders at the G7 summit in Cornwall.

Wedding guests were given a “best of British” afternoon tea and drinks, with the No10 garden kitted out in festival-style decorations.

Guests watched as Boris, 56, took the hand of his new bride, 33, and hit the dancefloor for the 1971 hit.

A source close to the couple said: “It topped off a wonderful day.

“The band struck up a slower version of the tune and Boris reached his hand out to Carrie as everyone gathered round. They looked so happy together.”

No Cabinet ministers or Tory MPs were thought to have been invited to the bash, which was capped at 30 due to Covid rules.

The last were seen leaving around 1.30am.

Carrie will be joined in Cornwall this week by US President Joe Biden’s wife Jill, German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s husband Joachim Sauer, Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi’s wife Serena Cappello, Japanese Premier Yoshihide Suga’s wife Mariko and French President Emmanuel Macron’s wife Brigitte.

She is expected to take them for a Cornish cream tea and will also get them to sample a Cornish pasty.

A source said: “Carrie has a very important role. She hopes to show them some Cornish delights away from the serious business of the G7 conference.”
