Guidelines Issued by Education Secretary
Education Secretary Gillian Keegan is set to issue guidelines to schools this week after parents expressed concerns over the content of sex education lessons taught by woke teachers. The move comes in response to claims of age-inappropriate and extreme material being presented to children.
Gender Ideology to Be Presented as Contested Belief
The forthcoming guidelines will clarify that gender ideology, suggesting that individuals can be born the wrong sex, should be taught as a "contested belief" rather than an established fact. In addition, schools will be required to share all classroom material with parents to ensure transparency and parental comfort.
Pushback Against Politically Motivated Agenda
Tory MP Miriam Cates raised concerns to the Prime Minister about children being taught that there are 72 genders and exposed to graphic lessons on oral sex. Cates emphasized the need for compulsory guidance to prioritize common sense and respect parents' rights to be informed about their children's education, rather than letting ideology drive the curriculum.
Ban on Rainbow Lanyards
Minister Esther McVey has also taken a stand by prohibiting civil servants from wearing rainbow lanyards, signaling a shift away from overt displays of political or ideological affiliations within government settings.
