Unreleased Xbox Images Surface Online – Renewing Fan Hopes for Compact Console

Xbox's Diverse Console Offerings

Xbox is known for releasing various versions of its Xbox Series consoles to cater to different budgets and preferences. Recently, the company unveiled plans for three upcoming consoles, including a new Series S and an Xbox Series X with enhanced storage capabilities.

The Story of the Xbox Keystone

However, there was one console announcement that never made it to the public – the Xbox Keystone. Initially revealed in 2021 as a cloud streaming console, the Keystone was intended to provide a more affordable option for gamers looking to stream Xbox games on their TVs, particularly appealing to Xbox Game Pass subscribers.

A Glimpse of Hope

Although showcased in 2022 when spotted on Xbox chief Phil Spencer's shelf, the Keystone was later confirmed to be years away from release. With a target price range of $99 to $129, achieving this affordability proved challenging at the time.

Patent Reveals New Details

Recently, a patent for the Keystone was unveiled, granted on December 26, 2023, after being filed by Xbox in June 2022. While the patent refers to the device simply as an 'electronic console' without mentioning the Keystone name, it offers an array of detailed design images.

Hope for the Future

Although the patent doesn't disclose additional information about the console's features, the newfound images have reignited hopes that the Keystone might still see the light of day. Fans are eager to see if this compact console will eventually make its way to the market.
