THERE’S a Dune video game coming, based on Frank Herbert’s novel of the same name.
Rather than a single-player experience, Dune: Awakening will be a survival MMO.
Dune: Awakening will be a survival massively multiplayer online game set in Frank Herbert’s Dune universe.
That means you’ll be fighting over water and other resources while other players attempt to steal your lunch money.
Other games in the genre include Ark: Survival Evolved, DayZ, and Conan Exiles.
It’s a polarising – albeit popular – genre, so it will be interesting to see what the fan reaction is like.
Saying that, people will probably stop caring what genre it is when they’re fighting a sandworm the size of a skyscraper.
Visually, it reminded us a bit of the Mad Max game, with its sandy vistas and ramshackle equipment.
“Dune: Awakening combines the grittiness and creativity of survival games with the social interactivity of large-scale, persistent multiplayer games to create a unique and ambitious Open World Survival MMO,” says the official blurb.
“Rise from survival to dominance in a vast and seamless Arrakis shared by thousands of players.”
You’ll be able to customise your character, build a fortress, and unlock hidden powers.
Dune: Awakening promises massive battles that happen on-foot, in ground vehicles, and in the sky.
There’s not much more information out there at the moment, except for the fact it’s coming to PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC.
