THE Sims 4 will soon go free-to-play, so everyone will have the chance to build their own virtual town.
Ever since the first Sims game released in 2000, millions of people have lost hours building their own simulated families and lives.
The base game will soon be free to play.
Soon everyone will have the chance to try their hand at being an invisible overlord as the base game will be given away for free by publisher EA.
EA hopes that switching to the free-to-play model will encourage more people to play, therefore increasing its playerbase.
From October 18, 2022, anyone who doesn’t already own a version of the game will be able to download it for free.
This can be done on PC via the EA app, Steam or Origin, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One.
There will also be an EA showcase on this day to outline what the company has planned for The Sims going forward.
The studio promises to continue to release kits, packs, and expansions going forward.
EA Play and EA Play Pro members will receive member-only bundles of The Sims 4 on this day.
The Sims 4 EA Play Edition includes The Sims 4 Get To Work Expansion Pack.
The EA Play Pro Edition includes both the above pack and The Sims 4 Toddler Stuff Pack.
Those who have already purchased The Sims 4 will not go empty handed.
EA has promised these players a free expansion pack for their long term loyalty to the game.
The pack, called the Desert Luxe kit, can be redeemed by players from today (September 14), until October 17.
Here Sims can relax in their modern oasis with luxurious indoor and outdoor furniture, inspired by the natural landscape of the Southwestern desert.
You can find out more about The Sims 4 going free to play on the EA website.
