SecretLab Titan review: If you sit in a chair all day, buy this ‘desk throne’ right now

THIS year more than ever, many of us have been glued to desk chairs in our homes – often a literal pain in the backside.

So why not upgrade? I’ve been testing the SecretLab Titan, and it’s about as good as chairs get.

The SecretLab Titan is a masterpiece

Gaming chairs and desk chairs can be bought really cheaply.

But if you’re spending hours plonked on your rear, you need to make sure you’re not skimping on your back health.

Enter the SecretLab Titan, a “gaming” chair for the masses that’s blissfuly comfortable.

The Singapore brand has become a household name in the gaming world, but its chairs are brilliant for office workers too.

It’s imposing but not gaudy

I’ve been trying the flagship Titan model for about a month, and I’m never looking back.

The box it comes in is large and heavy, but so is the chair.

Thankfully setup is easy – I managed it in under 10 minutes, thanks to a fairly simple diagram guide.

All the tools you’ll need are included in the packaging, so no extra purchases are required.

As standard, you get the wheel-able chair, plus a strap-on memory foam head pillow.

In terms of design, it’s imposing and glorious.

The Titan can be adjustable in endless ways for optimal comfort

You get a handy strap-on head pillow made from memory foam, with a soft fabric exterior

Stick this at your home desk and it really looks the part.

It’s not overly gaudy like many gaming chairs, with a stylish black exterior plus gold-trim lettering.

You can choose other colour-ways, including themed versions – like a World of Warcraft chair.

But for most, the standard black Titan will be enough.

It’s covered SecretLab’s new PRIME 2.0 PU “leather”. It feels tough and hardy like actual leather, but without the animal cruelty – so that’s a bonus.

The seat-rest is comfortable, with raised edges to scoop you inwards.

And the backrest is similarly tapered to cocoon you in ever so slightly

All parts of this chair are fully adjustable, so you can maximise every inch of it for your personal comfort.

You can tilt the seat and the back, raise or pivot the armrests, and lower the chair’s overall height.

The trimmings look seriously cool

A twisting knob on the side lets you add additional lumbar support, by pushing out into the bottom of your spine. It’s a brilliant feature, especially if you’ve usually got bad chair-posture.

But perhaps the best feature is the recliner, which goes from 85 to 165 degrees.

It means you can lay effectively horizontally – perfect for a quick nap.

I found myself using it mostly to play video games on my beloved Alienware Aurora R10 PC with a joypad.

But if you’re actually doing some proper work, it’s best to just sit up like a normal human.

Still, it’s nice to have the option to totally slob out – especially if you were watching a movie.

I was using a fairly premium IKEA chair before this, but there’s just no comparison.

I’ve never sat in a more comfortable chair than the SecretLab Titan.

The Titan is the flagship SecretLab chair – and it’s worth every penny

It’s easy to set up, simple to adjust, looks great, feels fantastic, and has been an absolute treat for my long-suffering back.

It’s not cheap at £399, but it’s hardly extortionate when you consider many premium deskchairs cost two or even three times that.

As tempting as it seems to save cash on a chair, it’s probably worth splashing a bit extra to make sure you’re seated comfortably.

If you’re spending the majority of your days at the desk, the SecretLab Titan is a must-buy.

In other news, Trending In The News’s favourite alternative to a games console is the Oculus Quest 2 VR headset.

Grab a VR headset and you’ll be able to play the legendary Beat Saber – like Guitar Hero, but with lightsabers.

And Dell’s Alienware R10 Ryzen Edition is a gaming PC powerhouse that crushes both the new consoles.
