Houser explains that the reluctance to jump into a movie deal stemmed from concerns about losing creative control and taking on unnecessary financial risks. Back when discussions were initiated, video game-based movies had a reputation for poor quality and box office flops, making it a risky venture for Rockstar.

Having left Rockstar in 2020, Houser now acknowledges that times have changed. He hints that the current team at Rockstar may have a different perspective on exploring movie adaptations of their beloved IPs.
