In today's digital world, more and more gamers are turning to subscription services instead of purchasing individual games. While Xbox Game Pass used to be the go-to service for most gamers, many companies are now creating their own subscriptions, leading to the need for multiple subscriptions to access the games players want. The latest company to enter the subscription game is Ubisoft, the publisher behind popular titles like Assassin's Creed.
Two tiers to choose from
Ubisoft+ is shaking things up by introducing two tiers of its service: Ubisoft+ Classics on PC and Ubisoft+ Premium. The Classics tier is available for PC gamers and select PlayStation Plus subscribers, offering a library of Ubisoft's older games. Titles like Far Cry 6, Rainbow Six Siege, and Watch Dogs: Legion are already included, with the promise of more additions over time. This tier is priced at just $7.99 per month for PC gamers, and it's even available for free as part of certain PlayStation Plus subscriptions.
However, if you're itching to play the latest releases like Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, you'll need to opt for the more expensive Premium tier. Priced at a hefty $17.99 per month, this tier not only includes Ubisoft's classic games but also provides access to new releases. Ubisoft is sweetening the deal by offering not just the base game, but also any premium editions that come with special features or bonuses. Subscribers will even get the chance to play some games up to seven days early thanks to early access perks.
A premium price tag
While Ubisoft+ may offer an impressive lineup of games and perks, it comes at a cost. At $17.99 per month, it's one of the most expensive gaming subscription services on the market, on par with PS Plus Premium and $1 pricier than Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. However, Ubisoft has a slew of highly anticipated games scheduled for release this year, following the successful launch of Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown. Gamers can look forward to the long-awaited Skull and Bones next month, as well as Star Wars Outlaws later in the year. There's even a possibility that the mobile game Assassin's Creed Jade and Assassin's Creed Red may be added to the service.
