MICROSOFT has announced that it’s putting an end to any more backwards compatible titles for Xbox.
On the 20th anniversary of Xbox, the last load of Xbox 360 and Original Xbox games were added to the backward compatibility library.
These titles are playable on Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S.
Over 70 of them have been added, and all of them support Auto HDR while a number of them get a resolution boost from the new consoles.
But there are no more games being added to the library, says Microsoft.
“This latest and final addition of 70+ titles to the backwards compatibility program was only possible through the passion and feedback from the community,” reads the Xbox Wire blog post.
“Your constant requests for specific titles and enhancements encouraged the Backwards Compatibility team to partner with the original creators to preserve thousands of games from over four generations of Xbox.
“While we continue to stay focused on preserving and enhancing the art form of games, we have reached the limit of our ability to bring new games to the catalog from the past due to licensing, legal and technical constraints.”
This week’s update includes the entire Max Payne. F.E.A.R., and Skate series.
There’s an FPS boost on 11 of the titles, bumping them up to a smooth 60fps.
Some existing games in the library are also benefiting from an FPS boost, including:
- Gears of War series
- Fallout 3
- Fallout: New Vegas
- Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion
- Dragon Age: Origins
- Dead Space 2
- Dead Space 3
- Alan Wake
- Sonic Generations
