BUG type Pokémon Wurmple first appeared in Generation 3 of the games way back in 2002 for the Gameboy Advance.
It has appeared in most versions of the game, including mobile version Pokémon Go, and evolves into two different Pokémon.
How to evolve a Wurmple on Pokémon Go
Wurmple is an early catch in most Pokémon games due to it’s low level spawning and evolution at level seven.
Players don’t know if they will get a Cascoon or Silcoon in the evolution as it depends on a hidden personality trait.
Each second stage evolution will then evolve into a final evolution at level 10 – either Dustox from Cascoon or Beautifly from Silcoon.
In order to evolve your Wurmple in Pokémon Go you need to collect 12 Wurmple candy.
Wurmple has two evolution trees and can eventually become a Dustox or a Beautifly.
After collecting 50 more Wurmple candy, players can get the final evolution.
The gender of your Wurmple does not effect its evolution and neither does the time of day.
Does a Wurmple evolve like an Eevee?
In Pokémon Go, Eevee’s evolution into Flareon, Jolteon or Vaporeon can be determined by giving your Eevee the respective nickname.
Although other Eveelutions are not so easy to get a hold of.
For your Wurmple, you have even less control as nicknames have no effect.
At the moment it appears that Wurmples evolve randomly in Pokémon Go, much like in the original games.
This means to get either Dustox or Beautifly you will need luck and to keep catching them until you get the desired outcome.
Which Pokémon are available in Pokémon Go?
Currently there are over 905 Pokémon that can be found across the different regions of the core games.
Not all of these are available in the mobile app version of the game, although they do regularly update to add new Pokémon.
The entirety of first and second generation Pokémon are in the game and a large number of generation three and four.
Popular or iconic Pokémon from later games are also in the app.

The update also made the game reflect real-life weather patterns wherever you are.
Much like in the main games, the weather will change what types of Pokémon you will see – for example, if it is raining you will be more likely to see a Mudkip.
A daily incense feature in a new update has also made it easier to catch rare Pokémon.
