A gory Christmas slasher game has been deemed too violent for Nintendo Switch and Xbox, resulting in a ban on both consoles. However, developers have announced that the game will still be available on PlayStation.
The Controversial Game
The game, called Christmas Massacre, has gained attention on social media for its gruesome and murderous take on the festive season. Described as an "80s inspired gore-drenched stealth slasher", the game features basic PS1-style horror game graphics.
Plot and Release
The disturbing trailer shows a man named Larry dressed as Santa, who is instructed by his Christmas tree to embark on a killing spree. The game is set to be released on November 17 for PS4 and PS5.
Puppet Combo's Previous Games
Puppet Combo, the creators of Christmas Massacre, have previously released similarly gory games on all major consoles, including Nun Massacre, Stay Out Of The House, and Bloodwash.
Banned on Nintendo and Xbox
However, it seems that Christmas Massacre was considered "too much" for Nintendo and Xbox, according to Puppet Combo. The developers expressed their disappointment on Twitter, stating that only PlayStation would allow the game.
Questions Raised
This move has raised questions about the criteria for allowing violent games, as there are already numerous violent titles available on consoles. When asked why they didn't censor the game to meet the requirements, Puppet Combo replied that they were not allowed to do so.
