GTA 6 Unlikely to Face Delay Despite SAG-AFTRA Strike

THE largest union for voice actors in the US, SAG-AFTRA, has initiated a strike against several major video gaming companies, including GTA’s publisher Take-Two Productions. Despite this, GTA 6 is not expected to be impacted by the strike.

Strike Exemption for GTA 6

GTA 6, set to be the highly anticipated gaming release of 2025, will not be delayed further due to the ongoing strike. SAG-AFTRA clarified that games already in production before August 25, 2023, such as GTA 6, are exempt from the strike and will continue under the terms of the 2020-2022 IMA.

Potential Actor Boycott

While GTA 6 is not directly affected by the strike, voice actors in the union still have the option to boycott the game in solidarity with the union. Ray Rodriguez, Chief Contracts Officer for SAG-AFTRA, mentioned that members can choose not to work on titles like GTA 6 voluntarily, potentially causing disruptions in production.

Minimal Impact on GTA 6 Production

Most of the voice work for GTA 6 is likely already completed, with any additional recordings potentially covered in the actors' original contracts and not impacted by the strike. Therefore, any delays in the game's release are unlikely to be attributed to the ongoing strike.
