Gamers Discover Clever PS5 'Load Trick' for Faster Gaming

Save Time with a Little-Known Setting

PlayStation 5 owners have recently realized that their beloved console has a hidden feature that allows for faster access to games. Normally, when you turn on your console, you are presented with a screen to log in. However, there is a way to bypass this and go straight to the PlayStation Home Screen, cutting down on loading time.

Set Up Automatic Log-Ins

All it takes to activate this time-saving trick is to set up automatic log-ins. By doing so, your console will automatically choose your profile when you turn it on, eliminating the need for manual profile selection. Although it may only save you a few seconds each time, these seconds can add up over the long run.

Considerations for Multi-User Consoles

It is important to note that this feature is most beneficial for solo PS5 users or those who rarely share the console. For those who share their PS5 with multiple people and have several profiles that are equally used, automatic log-in may not be the best choice. It could make it more difficult for other users to find their own profiles.

How to Enable Automatic Log-In

Enabling this feature is simple. From your Home Screen, go to Settings, then Users and Accounts, and select Login Settings on the left. Next, toggle the Log In To PS5 Automatically setting to the on position. Sony advises ensuring that Bluetooth is turned on for this feature to work. If there are multiple users on your PS5, the last person who turns on this setting will be automatically logged in.

Bonus Trick: Appearing Offline

If you choose to skip the log-in screen, keep in mind that you will also lose access to another clever trick on the PS5. The log-in screen offers the option to log in "appearing offline" when desired. To utilize this feature, start up your PS5 as usual and you should see the Welcome Back To PlayStation screen. Press the menu button here to reveal a hidden options panel. Scroll down and select Appear Offline. From then on, whenever you log in to your profile, you will automatically appear offline.
