Four Little-Known PlayStation 5 Features You Need to Try Right Now

Voice commands

Did you know that your PlayStation 5 has a voice control function? Similar to Google Assistant or Siri, this feature allows you to control your console with your voice. Simply go to Settings > Voice Command (Preview) and toggle the setting on. Don't forget to turn on "Listen for 'Hey PlayStation'" as well. With Voice Command, you can find or open games, apps, and settings, capture gameplay, or control media playback, all with your voice. Just say "Hey PlayStation" followed by your command, and watch your words appear as text on the screen.

Log in offline

Want to play games without being disturbed by your friends? There's a hidden menu on your PS5 that allows you to log in "offline" and appear invisible to others. After starting up your console, go to the Welcome Back To PlayStation screen and press the menu button. This will bring up a hidden options panel where you can choose to "Appear Offline". Log in to your profile, and voila! You'll automatically appear offline and enjoy some uninterrupted gaming.

Storage stealer

Are you a trophy collector? Did you know that your PS5 automatically captures footage of your gaming achievements? By default, your console records a 15-second 4K clip of each trophy you earn, taking up valuable storage space. To prevent this, go to PlayStation Settings, choose Captures and Broadcasts, and look for Auto-Captures. Under the Trophies section, you can customize the recording preferences or even turn it off completely. Don't let unnecessary trophy videos eat up your storage!

Save money

The PlayStation Store offers great discounts on games, but it's easy to miss out on these deals if you're not regularly checking. Luckily, your PS5 has a built-in wishlist feature that notifies you when the price of a game on your list changes. Similar to Steam's wishlist, this allows you to snag games at a discounted price. You can add games to your wishlist through the console, the PlayStation online store, or the app. Simply choose the heart icon, and you'll receive a notification when a wishlisted game goes on sale. No more paying full price!
