What's at stake?
Amazon Prime members have been left frustrated after it was announced that a major partnership between Amazon and Riot Games will not be renewed. As a result, popular games such as Valorant, League of Legends, and Teamfight Tactics will no longer offer in-game goodies through Prime Gaming.
Prime Gaming: A valuable perk
Amazon Prime offers a plethora of benefits beyond just free next-day delivery. One of the most popular perks is Prime Gaming, which not only provides free games every month but also offers in-game items for various popular titles. However, the upcoming split with Riot Games means that Prime members will no longer be able to access these exclusive bonuses for the three aforementioned games.
Statement from Riot Games
Riot Games released a statement confirming the end of the partnership: "Prime Gaming has decided not to renew our promotion, which means the last capsule drops will end in March 2024 across all of our games. We know this is disappointing, and wanted to let you know as soon as we could." Prime members can still claim drops for the next few months, and any content unlocked prior to March 2024 will remain in their accounts.
Still some time left
Although the partnership is coming to an end, there will still be at least two more content drops for Valorant, Teamfight Tactics, and League of Legends. Members will have the opportunity to pick up in-game items until March, and any previously redeemed items will remain in their inventories.
Other games still available
While the loss of in-game goodies for the three popular games is disappointing, Prime Gaming will continue to offer free item packs for other titles such as Pokémon Go, Overwatch, and Apex Legends. However, the absence of League of Legends content is a significant blow to Prime gamers, as the game boasts tremendous popularity worldwide.
