WHILE we’re not quite at the holiday season yet, where all the big games drop, there is still a large number of big titles coming this September.

FIFA 23 is one of the biggest releases of the month
JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: All-Star Battle R
From the anime world of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure comes a new fighting game called All-Star Battle R.
This is a remaster of the PS3 title, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: All-Star Battle.
It will feature all the playable characters from the game and its expansions, as well as nine new base characters with even more coming via season passes.
In total, over 50 characters from the anime will be playable.

LEGO Brawls
This is a bit of a weird one as LEGO Brawls was previously available on iOS and macOS via the Apple Arcade.
However, this month you’ll be able to play the fighting game on current consoles and PC.
Following the success of Multiversus, LEGO Brawls is an online crossover fighter much like Super Smash Bros.
Here you can use LEGO sets to build your own Minifigure, and it has unusual modes such as ‘capture the flag’.
LEGO Brawls releases September 2, for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC. You can play a demo now via Steam.
The Last of Us Part I
One of the month’s biggest releases comes out right at the start — The Last of Us Part 1.
The latest version rebuilds the game from scratch using Naughty Dog’s latest PS5 engine.
This includes improved graphics, better controls, mechanical tweaks and added accessibility options.
The upcoming game will let you relive the story ahead of the release of the HBO show featuring actors Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey.
The Last of Us Part I releases September 2, as a PS5 exclusive.
Steelrising
In the alternative world of Steelrising we see Louis XVI fight the peasants using an army of robots.
You play as Aegis, a rogue robot — or automation — who must face the king alone to save history.
Judging from trailers, it seems to mix the open-world exploration of Assassin’s Creed with the challenging combat of Soulsborne games.
Steelrising is coming September 8, for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
Splatoon 3
The free weekend Splatfest is now over but you can pick up the full game of Splatoon 3 next month.
Nintendo has released a lot of information about the upcoming game, including new weapons, stages and modes.
Salmon Run co-op is returning for those who want to play with friends, as well as a new Tetris style card mode.
Splatoon 3 is coming on September 9, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
Metal: Hellsinger
This first-person shooter sees you beat enemies to the beat of its heavy metal soundtrack.
Everything done on tempo increases your score multiplier.
That means you’ll be shooting, reloading, dodging, slashing, and performing finishers to the music.
At launch, Metal: Hellsinger will feature ten heavy metal songs by nine different artists specifically written for the game’s seven levels.
A demo is available on Steam, Xbox, and PlayStation, though you’ll have to wait a little longer for the full release.
Metal: Hellsinger launches September 15, for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
Return to Monkey Island
The sixth installment of the Monkey Island series comes after a 13-year-long hiatus.
Return to Monkey Island picks up where LeChuck’s Revenge finished and references the events of the previous games.
It features the titular island alongside new locations such as Terror Island and Brr Muda.
Guybrush Threepwood returns as the protagonist and many of the original voice actors reprise their roles.
Return to Monkey Island comes out on September 17, for Switch and PC.
The DioField Chronicle
Square Enix has a strong line up coming to the end 2022 with The DioField Chronicle being the first of many.
Set in a medieval fantasy world, much like its SaGa series there are numerous playable protagonists to choose from.
It’s a new RPG with a real-time battle system and 2.5D visuals much like Octopath Traveler and Triangle Strategy.
The DioField Chronicle releases on September 22, for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC.
FIFA 23
The month’s last release will also be one of the year’s biggest, as FIFA 23 comes out next month.
This will be the last time EA Sports partners with the football federation, as next year it starts its own series, EA Sports FC.
The game has a complete overhaul with all new HyperMotion2 technology, and a better Career Mode with less grinding.
Cross-play is also coming for the first time, allowing players on current generation consoles to play together no matter the platform.
FIFA 23 is releasing September 30, for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Stadia.
Those who purchase the Ultimate Edition will gain access three days earlier.
