TOWN Hall scrooges have banned care homes from putting up Christmas decorations amid fears they could spread Covid.
Infection control teams have told home managers they will have to rip down trees, baubles and tinsel as they cannot be easily wiped down.
But critics say the policy will rob elderly and isolated residents of the joy of Christmas.
One manager said: “After everything that has been taken away from our residents this year, we’re now expected to take Christmas away from them, too.
“Our hearts are breaking for our beautiful residents.
“It seems they’re intent on taking away any little thing that brings them joy.”
Care Campaign for the Vulnerable said of the ban: “We find this downright appalling.
“As if residents haven’t lost enough this year already.
“Why deprive them of the joy of Christmas?”
