TRAVEL restrictions are being eased across the world, with more and more countries opening up to vaccinated Brits.
But some destinations still have strict rules in place for unvaccinated people – including children aged as young as five.
Health Secretary Sajid Javid announced yesterday that British kids aged five to 11 will be able to get jabbed from April, which is a boost to families with holiday plans.
But until then, there are some destinations that impose strict rules on children who aren’t fully vaccinated.
We’ve rounded up the destinations that make it difficult for unvaccinated kids to enter or access services.
Greece
Unvaccinated children aged five and over need to follow the same requirements as unvaccinated adults to visit Greece.
That means they need to show evidence of a negative PCR test taken within 72 hours or a negative rapid antigen test taken within 24 hours to enter the country. A certificate of recovery from Covid is also accepted.
They will then be required to take a rapid Covid test on arrival.
Unvaccinated kids are required to take a Covid test to enter restaurants, shops and museums.
The US
Children aged 17 and under who are not fully vaccinated don’t need to quarantine, but must take a test three to five days after arriving in the US.
If an unvaccinated child is travelling with unvaccinated parents, they will have to show proof of a negative Covid test taken within 24 hours of departure.
Children under two-years-old are exempt from these rules.
Additionally, some states have imposed harsher restrictions on unvaccinated children, for example New York.
To enter restaurants, cafes and bars, everyone needs a NYC Covid pass, which can only be accessed by children who have received at least one dose of the vaccine.
That means that most British families visiting New York with young kids won’t be able to enter indoor venues.
Germany
Germany has some of the strictest Covid rules for tourists, making it difficult for Brits to go there on holiday.
The UK is classed as a ‘high risk area’, meaning only vaccinated Brits are permitted to enter without needing to quarantine on arrival.
Unvaccinated children aged between six and 11 can enter if they are accompanied by a fully vaccinated parent and show evidence of a negative Covid test – but they must then quarantine for 10 days, with test and release available after five days.
Kids who can prove recovery from Covid are exempt from quarantine rules, provided they recovered more than 28 days ago but less than 90 days ago.
Canada
Unvaccinated or partially vaccinated children aged between five and 11 must complete pre-entry, arrival and day eight Covid tests to visit Canada.
Kids who had a positive Covid test within 14 and 180 days prior to arrival are exempt from testing rules.
We’ve rounded up the 41 countries vaccinated Brits can enter without needing a single Covid test.
But there are still 33 countries Brits are banned from entering due to Covid rules.
