GREECE has announced it is scrapping more Covid requirements for Brits, in a boost to families heading abroad for Easter.
From March 15, the country will abolish its Passenger Locator Forms (PLF) for all travellers, regardless of vaccination status.
The Minister of Tourism Vassilis Kikilias confirmed the change, which he said will “simplify the entry process for travellers”.
He said: “Following the recommendation of the Committee of Experts of the Ministry of Health, the completion of the PLF by visitors from all countries for their entry into Greece is abolished from March 15, 2022.
“The abolition of the PLF simplifies the entry process for travellers, shifting the emphasis to the control of vaccination certificates.”
Anyone visiting Greece before March 15 will still need to fill in a PLF before arriving.
Vaccinated Brits can show either proof of vaccination or proof of recovery to enter Greece, and don’t need to take a Covid test.
The scrapping of the PLF form means vaccinated Brits can travel to Greece like they could before the pandemic – without needing to do any forms or tests.
However, Greece is one of several European countries which have put an expiration date on vaccine certificates, meaning Brits who were vaccinated too long ago will be subject to stricter entry rules.
Adults who had their second dose more than seven months ago must have received the booster jab to enter Greece easily.
If they haven’t had their booster, they will be considered unvaccinated and must follow guidelines for unvaccinated travellers.
Unvaccinated Brits still need to show a negative Covid test result or proof of recovery to enter Greece.
The UK could soon follow in Greece’s footsteps, as calls have been made for PLFs to be scrapped for Brits returning home after a holiday.
Transport Secretary Grant Shapps is said to be pushing for the forms to be ditched ahead of the Easter holidays.
Other European countries are also relaxing Covid rules. Today, the Canary Islands all reduced their restrictions to the lowest level of Covid alert – Level 1.
Under Level 1, there can be 100 per cent capacity at all indoor and outdoor spaces, including cafés, bars and restaurants, and closing times can be by 4am.
Iceland is the latest country to lift all Covid travel restrictions – including for unvaccinated holidaymakers.
