A NEW documentary on the adult online platform OnlyFans explores how celebrities cashed in on nudes during the coronavirus pandemic and made millions.

Hulu announced OnlyFans: Selling Sexy over the weekend with a teaser that had stars and media personalities talking about how the platform from “Instagram, but for porn,” to a part of “pop culture zeitgeist right now.”

OnlyFans: Selling Sexy shows how users made money during the pandemic

The documentary shows how Bella Thorne, Cardi B and other celebrities grew their fame and fortune on the platform.

But it also shows how ordinary people have been able to make money and become well known through the platform.

A voice in the teaser states: “Anyone can come in from the ground floor and start making money.”

Another person says that “OnlyFans has definitely enabled us to call the shots.”

The OnlyFans documentary premiered on Wednesday

In the documentary, adult content creators must “navigate OnlyFans’ pandemic enhanced 2020 boom, the impact of an influx of celebrities on the platform, and the choices they have to make as they increase their fanbases and income while facing the real world impacts and stigma surrounding online sex-work,” according to a press release.

Among the popular content creators who are featured are Tyson Dayley, Wynter Mosley and Kirsten Vaughn. 

Professional adult entertainers active on OnlyFans including Griffin Barrows and Silvia Sage also appear in the documentary.

Besides adult content creators, sex educators, therapists and comedians including Nikki Glaser and Donnell Rawlings “unpack the ways in which OnlyFans and its mysterious founder may be changing the world of online sex-work—for both good and bad—forever,” the release states. 

The documentary is a collaboration between Disney-owned Hulu and ABC News Originals and premiered on Wednesday. 

OnlyFans allowed both professional and amateur adult entertainers struggling financially during the Covid-19 pandemic to make some money. 

The platform went from a niche site to a huge movement with millions of users.
