Elderly and vulnerable Brits ‘to be offered Covid jab every six months’

MILLIONS could be offered six-monthly top-up jabs under the PM’s plans to live with Covid and get Britain “back on its feet”.

But not all adults will get a chance to get a fourth jab as ministers focus on dishing them out to older and more vulnerable people only.

The PM will hail Britain’s bumper vaccine rollout as crucial to falling cases and the key to freedom

Boris Johnson will today set out his strategy for stripping back Covid laws and urging people to take personal responsibility after two years of rules and restrictions.

He is expected to rip up isolation laws forcing those testing positive to stay inside and will reveal plans to charge for Covid tests for all but those who really need them.

Passenger locator travel forms for foreign trips will be stripped down and made more simple — but will not be binned just yet.

And twice weekly testing for kids in schools is expected to end.

Yesterday the PM said “people should feel confident again” and urged the nation to “go back to work in the normal way”.

The PM will hail Britain’s bumper vaccine rollout as crucial to falling cases and the key to freedom.

But he will warn that Covid is not yet completely over — and scientists will need to monitor it going forward.

Ministers have already secured 114million vaccine doses for the next two years.

Scientists are now debating how often Brits will be told to get jabbed in future.

It is likely that those over 75 and the extremely vulnerable will be told to get a fourth top-up in the spring.

The latest figures showed a further 74 people died in the previous 24 hours after testing positive for Covid.

It takes the total death toll to 160,581.

Meanwhile, 25,696 new cases were reported yesterday.
