A WHISTLE-blower who exposed a security probe into Britain’s ambassador to the US is suing the Government after being arrested by counter-terrorism police.

But in a High Court claim against the Government, a senior civil servant says he was arrested by 14 armed officers within 24 hours of our story being put to the ambassador.

His lawyers are also accusing ministers of attempting to use national security laws to keep secret any evidence over alleged intelligence leaks by Darroch to his alleged lover.

The senior civil servant — who cannot be named — is suing Cabinet ministers Kemi Badenoch and James Cleverly.

Court documents claim his arrest “was part of a disinformation campaign to protect Lord Darroch and maintain diplomatic prestige.”

His legal team also say he has been used as a “scapegoat.”

Darroch has always denied any affair with CNN correspondent Michelle Kosinski.

Trending In The News’s story was a further embarrassment to our man in Washington after his diplomatic cables about former president Donald Trump were leaked in 2019.

A date for trial will be set next month.
