Truss will only officially become PM once her predecessor, Boris Johnson, informs the Queen of his resignation.

Johnson will travel to Balmoral on Tuesday, September 6, 2022, to inform Her Majesty that he is resigning.

The Queen will receive Johnson in Scotland, rather than travelling to London, as she has been advised not to travel due to ongoing mobility issues.

Truss will also need to name her new Cabinet and on Wednesday, September 7, 2022, the new team are expected to meet before entering their first Prime Ministers Question Time in the House of Commons.

The new Cabinet, along with the PM will go head-to-head with the leader of the Labour party, Sir Keir Starmer.
