Detained and Deported

Tory MP Tim Loughton has been "detained and deported" from Djibouti during a 24-hour visit "due to outspoken views on China."

Outspoken Views on China

Tim Loughton, a senior member of the Home Affairs select committee, was in the country on a 24-hour visit when he was detained for over seven hours at the airport and subsequently barred from entering Djibouti.

China's Response

China has denied the allegations, calling them "purely baseless" and aimed at damaging China-UK relations.

Support from Foreign Office

The Foreign Office provided consular support to Loughton during the incident in Djibouti.
