Bombshell Report Reveals Bullying and Sexual Misconduct
Tory MP Peter Bone has been suspended from Parliament for six weeks following allegations of sexual assault against a male staffer in a Madrid hotel. The Independent Expert Panel's report found that Bone had committed bullying and sexual misconduct against the staff member. The report detailed multiple acts of bullying, including violence, shouting, mocking, and belittling.
Denial of Allegations
Bone, who left his wife for a married physio 20 years his junior, has denied all the allegations made against him. In a statement, he called the claims false and without foundation. He also highlighted that the allegations referred to events that took place over 10 years ago and were only raised by the complainant years after leaving Bone's employment.
Possible Consequences
If Parliament approves the recommended suspension, Bone could face a recall petition from constituents, potentially triggering a by-election in his Wellingborough seat. However, Bone has vowed to continue in his role as an MP.
Details of the Allegations
The report revealed several incidents, including physical violence and throwing objects at the complainant. Bone also imposed an unwanted and humiliating ritual, forcing the staffer to put his hands in his lap when displeased with his work. Additionally, Bone repeatedly pressured the complainant to give him massages in the office.
Peter Bone served as Leader of the Commons from July 2022 until September of the same year when Liz Truss became Prime Minister.
