Tory London mayor hopeful vows to end attack on drivers and unveils radical plan to ditch red lights at specific times

RED traffic lights in London could be switched off at night if Sadiq Khan is sacked as Mayor, Trending In The News can reveal.

Tory hopeful Dan Korski today vowed to finally end Mr Khan’s attack on drivers and impose a radical shake-up of London’s roads.

Dan Korski has promised to scrap the ULEZ expansion and bin unnecessary 20mph limits if he beats Sadiq Khan

If elected London Mayor, Mr Korski would explore switching off red lights between 10pm and 7am.

Instead, amber flashing lights managed by sensors would “ease the flow of traffic”.

Mr Korski, a former No.10 aide, would also allow motorists and cyclists to share lanes on routes where bike segregation has caused annoying congestion.

And 20mph limits would be binned where there’s no obvious reason for the restriction.

The mayoral hopeful also wants to dramatically reduce traffic control measures including no right turns and closed streets, where they don’t command local support.

Mr Korski told Trending In The News: “Sadiq Khan’s transport policies, to London voters, appear irrational.

“Above all, it’s hard to see how they help the environment.

“They’re driving motorists around the bend and, most counterintuitively, turning some people against environmentalism.

“All my changes will be made with community input.”

The race to replace Mr Khan is heating up, with eight Tory wannabe mayors putting themselves forward for the ticket so far.

Most frontrunners, including Mr Korski, have vowed to scrap the hated ULEZ expansion due in August.

Minister Paul Scully said he will ditch the eco enforcement from day one if he wins.

He told Trending In The News: “I pledge that my first act as Mayor will be to give the order to turn off all those new cameras on my first day.

“Improving air quality does not need to savage small businesses, charities and people who can least afford this change.”

The party will whittle down candidates to a shortlist of three, before giving London members a vote on the final name.

The winner will battle head-to-head with Mr Khan for the mayoralty in May next year.
