‘Tipsy’ Downing Street official ‘taunted cops after leaving a lockdown-busting booze-up’

A TIPSY Downing Street official taunted the police after leaving a lockdown-busting booze-up, it was claimed yesterday.

The posh aide stunned officers guarding the security gates by boasting: “We’re the only ones allowed to party.”

The arrogant jibe was made as a group of revellers left in the early hours after a long night at No 10.

But one witness is said to have reported the boast to the inquiry team investigating up to 17 gatherings at the PM’s residence.

Whitehall ethics chief Sue Gray will release her Partygate report this week — but it is expected not to identify the main rule-breakers.

Scotland Yard officers have asked her to strip out most of the detail related to nine alleged parties they are investigating.

A Cabinet Office source admitted: “There is not much of a landing strip for a report that will keep police satisfied and provide the red meat so many politicians are demanding.”

PM Boris Johnson will be given a copy hours in advance as Ms Gray is said to be concerned about a spin operation by No 10.

Tory MPs fear it will leave the PM in limbo for months as a watered-down report will not provide enough damning evidence to trigger a no-confidence vote — or enough to clear him.

The PM’s former aide Dominic Cummings has chillingly signalled that further revelations about the PM’s chaotic leadership will continue to emerge while he remains in post.
