MP Calls for Investigation
Senior MP Kevan Jones has urged the police to investigate the Post Office following claims that the company was aware of flaws in the Horizon IT system. A document has surfaced showing that bosses and legal chiefs were aware of concerns as far back as 2017.
Postmasters Blamed
Despite the revelations, Jones insisted that postmasters were unfairly blamed for the issues within the IT system. Over 900 sub-postmasters were prosecuted between 1999 and 2015 due to problems with Horizon.
Post Office's Knowledge Revealed
A draft dossier has exposed that the Post Office knew about the system issues in 2017 but continued to defend cases against sub-postmasters. The company allocated £100 million of public funds towards these legal battles.
Call for Justice
Jones, a member of the Horizon Compensation Advisory Board, stressed the importance of a police investigation to bring those responsible to justice. He emphasized the need for individuals to be held accountable for their actions.
